Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum starts as young as the age of 2. Building fine motor skills can happen many ways but why not make it a fun way. The tools that come with Handwriting Without Tears turns regular Play-Doh into learning!
The state approved curriculum we use here at D.O.C.K. for children ages 3 and 4 is "Creative Curriculum". This promotes learning through imaginative play and allows opprotunity to be creative with engaging materials and props.
Sensory, Science, and Music are the materials you will see enhanced in our learning centers. The time your child is allowed to make choices on where they choose to learn and whom they choose to play with not only builds social skills but builds language and independence.
Baby Doll circle time is a part of our Conscious Discipline Curriculum that promotes connections, awareness in how to deal with one's feelings, and how to get along with others. These beautiful engaging lessons build the foundation for the family classroom that these students will have throughout their preschool career.
Gross motor developement, working as a team, and child acknowledgement are skills learned through our small group learning time. Each class from toddlers to 4's has an hour in their schedule each day that allows opportunity for smaller groups to learn on a more individual basis. This give our students and our teachers time to build trust, create a bond, and create a unique learning experience.
Our core belief is that each child learns at their own pace. Here at D.O.C.K. we offer unique learning experiences through play but still offer a table time activity that builds skills in letter and number recognition. This also meets many other Kindergarten Readiness skills that are inline with the Benchmarks and Ages and Stages guidelines set by the state of Arkansas.
Learning centers such as home living and art, allow the child to explore new experiences with their peers. This type of play builds language and cognitive skills that are imperative to obtaining social skills needed for their elementary years.
"I Love You" rituals are a fundamental part of the Conscious Discipline Curriculum. Seen here is an example of an experience between teacher and child that builds trust and makes the child feel safe and loved. Four key elements have to be met through this action 1) Eye contact 2) Presence 3) Touch 4) Playfulness. This is also seen between classmate to help create bonds.
Starting at the earliest age, in the infant room, we see teachers interact with the children by having eye contact and offering a gentle touch. Promoting safety and love not only helps this child learn, but enhances core brain development that promotes future learning experiences and builds lifelong bonds.
Small group time through out each day can be from a table activity to a group carpet activity. Building skills in a group atmosphere promotes team work and social skills while offering opportunities for letter and number recognition though our Handwriting Without Tears curriculum.
Feeling safe, knowing your loved, is what your child will need and will get at D.O.C.K. Preschool. This is our foundation and our belief that this has to happen first so the Learning CAN happen.
Stamp and See screens are a part of the Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum used during small group learning time each day. The children find it engaging and fun while learning fine motor skills and building their recognition of letters and numbers!
